First Response Negotiator Course
The ProCom team have sound expertise operationally and in training disciplines ranging from general to specialist.
This 5-day program affords organisations a negotiator response capability and provides selected staff with the skills to attend high-end negotiator incidents. The course is the first of its kind offered outside policing agencies and allows for full integration with existing police negotiator units. The course is team oriented and intense and is followed by a skills enhancement and maintenance program to ensure competency and currency. The program is currently developing capability within the Australian correctional and immigration services field. Core elements in this training include negotiator team structure, negotiation elements and boundaries, safety and tactics, dynamic risk assessment processes, psychological aspects of negotiation, communication and mental illness, cultural diversity and the use of interpreters. The course includes many hours of daily practical scenario work and produces team members that can respond, resolve and recover critical negotiator incidents.

The role playing was very useful including the various experiences related by the facilitators. The training was conducted in a lively, highly interactive manner yet very informative with practical applications of what had been learned.

The hospital environment is often and aggressive workplace with increasing numbers of potentially aggressive and violent patients and families. The de-escalation strategies that we have learnt and had reinforced today have been fantastic. Thank you!
